Health testing you should be looking for is eye testing, DNA testing for DM and HC-HSF4. The French bulldog club also runs a health scheme I would want the patients to at least silver awarded which will mean they have been BOAS assessment. Grade 0 or grade 1, Nostrils Grade 1 or 2, Heart Tested normal, Patella score Grade 0 or 1 as well as having the two DNA tests already mentioned.
I would advise avoiding the breeders who breed for new colours like chocolate, merle, lilacs, tans ect and charge crazy prices for them. These people are commercial breeders who's intrest in the breed is purely profit driven not health. Also alot of there colours have been crossed into the breed and lied about to get them registered. You will often see on ads from these people boasting what colour genes the pups and studs carry.
Registration wise I would only consider a kennel club registered litter and not one of the new registries as these have been set up by the commercial breeders as they were not happy that the kennel club won't list these unacceptable colours on the dogs registration papers as they list them as 'Colour Not Reconised by KC'
