Don't think you should worry about this, some dogs are more interested in sex than food. You could try pilchards in tomato sauce, some dogs can't resist others will not eat until the bitch is no longer interesting. He will soon put back the lost weight. JH

Not helpful I know but he willeat eventually. this is one of the reasons I won't keep males, only bitches, as in my house it would be cruel, as the only outside access to garden would mean bringing them past each other :(

This not eating is very common in our breed when bitches are in season, I doubt he'll come to any harm, but its murder if your trying to show him!

I had read to tempt dogs that wont eat try offering Chicken korma
I tried it and it worked,it doesnt upset their tums as you would expect.
So order yourselves a curry tonight and get an extra korma for the dog and bung on any spare rice too,try it it worked for our dog.

I gave my dog brown rice and beef suit when he lost weight, due to not eating when the girls were in season .It worked well so now Igive it to him in advance of seasons so he doesent lose so much weight anymore but it is true ,lots of dogs dont eat at all when hoping for sex . mari

I have had this with my flatcoat boys. Don't worry they won't starve themselves! I have always given mine pilchards in tomato sauce, and they love it. (Infact they are having that tonight for tea). I know mine are a spoilt bunch and could do with losing a few pounds, but even so I know they will eat once hunger starts to get the better of them. So long as the dog is drinking, don't worry.
