Hello there not sure what to do about this really
Made an appointment to view standard poodle puppies in Epsom last Sunday morning a 150 mile round trip for us.  This was a breeder we had contacted through Champdogs and is also listed on the kennel club.
On arrival there was obviously no one home although the puppies could clearly be heard getting excited inside the house.
Only an ansafone message on the breeders mobile phone so we had no choice but to leave.
No response either from the breeder until 4 days later saying they'd gone to a wedding and the person looking after the puppies and meant to meet us had also gone out.
This was not the behaviour we expected from a reputable breeder.
Just wanting to warn anyone else to avoid the upsetting experience really.

There is nothing you can do - other than walk (run) away.   If they have that little regard for appointments, to say nothing of leaving the litter in the hands of somebody who wasn't there either it sounds to me as if, frustrating and disappointing as it is, you had a lucky escape.   There will always be others.   You are right - not the kind of behaviour expected of a 'reputable breeder'.

How odd - you would think the breeder would want to meet you anyway.

Think lucky escape there folks.

Agree with the others - run for the hills and consider it a lucky (although very frustrating) escape!

If they can't be there for you now, they wouldn't be there for you in the future.

On the other hand people are only human and fallible and may have mixed up dates, or been let down by the dog sitter.

If there had been a profuse apology then I would be inclined to more charitable, but then I would never have someone else interview prospective puppy buyers and had there been an emergency tried to contact them to cancel.

It is odd behaviour. I notice this breeder has some extremely famous lines.
