last time (quite a few year ago!) I have a spray that I put on my dogs teats to sooth them after pups had been fed. not sure of name or if it is still around. does anyone know of similar thing I can get. I know that there is a human one but not sure if this is suitable for dogs. thx

We just used olive or coconut oil to be honest.

I am using coconut oil at the moment. the stuff I am looking for was to sooth teats after feeds.
I haven't put anything on our dog, but I remember my mum using calendular cream when breast feeding my siblings! This is natural, so is probably safe for dogs but I'd check first.

To be honest I have never had a bitch with sore nipples. Nature has designed them so the oil glands keep them lubricated.

Just a thought about sore teats - quite often I've had to clip back the pointy ends of baby puppy nails as they can scratch mum and make her sore.

I would contact Baldwin's herbal supplier or dorwest and see what they have . Calendula is safe for dogs but they will be able to tell u if the other ingredients in calendula cream for example is safe.the human One is camilosan or at least that is one of them

its for prevention really

Just to add I'd be very careful what you put on her teats - not as it might affect her as much as whether it might affect the nursing puppies. Again the only time we've had sore teats is when we had puppies with very pointy tips to their nails.
