Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Season pads

Hi,

My girl is due to have a season I think , she's only had a maiden season around 7 months ago,  during that time she was a little messy, this time around I'd like to try her with pads, ideally washable.
My question is what type of pads do you use on your girls, also I'm not sure what size she would need, she's medium/ large breed?

Hi, the only thing I have any experience of for this, is the Mikki hygiene pants. There are pads available for these but they are disposable paper pads rather like pantie liners but smaller. I must admit though, I just used a folded piece of kitchen paper towel and I didn't use them 24/7.

Oh please don't!!   I doubt any owner is going to be able to change these pads often enough for them to be hygienic.   The discharge needs to come away, not be held against the poor bitch.   Confine her and cover anything you don't want messed on.   And if this is a problem for you, why not get
her spayed?

I have to agree, most bitches will clean themselves, and a bit of mess is easily cleaned off washable floors, and even carpet (with cold water) soft furnishings can be covered in a sheet.

I agree. I have never used anything and if I was that bothered I would go for spaying.
Mine have generally been quite clean and driven us mad constantly cleaning themselves.
They seem to be quite happy though doing there job.
Personally I don't like the idea of doing  this and it must be very annoying for the dog surely.

If I had a problem with a bitches season I would question if I really needed a dog.  It's not natural to cover a bitch up, the blood needs to flow.

Agree with the others, though I do use hygiene pants if they are going to come and sleep on the bed overnight during a season. The rest of the time I just cover the sofas with throws.

Ok guys, I am not going to use these pads 24/7, I'm going to try them for overnight use as my dogs sleep on my bed.
