Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / My dog is attractive to Westies!!!!

Does any one have any explanation as to why Dylan (my castrated lab cross) is so attractive to Westies. He is 4 now and this has been going on since he was about a year old, and we have lived in 2 different areas. It doesn't seem to matter what sex the Westies are, or whether they are neutered or not (although males are certainly more persistant!) It is of no real bother to me, Dylan just looked bemused and lets them get on with it! It is more a problem for Westie owners as their dogs come from far and wide just to sniff his bits!!!

Hayley

Maybe I should hire him out to Westie owners whose dogs have a poor recall!!! :D

LOL Hayley!

Perhaps its something in his food that his him a particular "Westie-appealing" odour?
If it bothers you (or your dog) you could always try changing his diet, or using bach-flower remedies on his coat, to change the smell?

Hi Wolfwitch,

Both dogs are fed on the same food, and Westies totally ignore my other dog.. Dylan goes hydrotherapy every week so anything I put on his coat would soon wash away...anyway do they sell Westie repellent?!! :) Anyway, as I say it isn't a problem, Dylan is so laid back, he couldn't care less, and all the Westies we have met have been very good natured too - just a little too nosy!!! :) :) :)
