Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy sales contract

Would you think it reasonable to request a copy of a puppy sales contract before agreeing to purchase puppy or when deposit is paid?

Do any of you offer this initially or have a problem if it is requested?

In fact, is it a reasonable request?

Would you be suspicious of the breeder if they refused?

Not unreasonable at all.  I send my potential new owners a copy prior to them visiting the puppies.

Yes, I would be very dubious if my request was turned down

Thanks, just what I thought.

I certainly show my puppy owners the contract when they first visit, but this time have sent it to the potential new owners.

I would not buy if they did not. Remember that >in law< a dog/puppy is classed as 'property', so, ''who owns the property''.
