We bought a 10 week old lhasa apsos yesterday. He was playful yesterday but only seems to want to sleep today and doesnt want to play at all. He is eating and drinking okay but not a lot. Does he sound okay? Will be taking him to vets tomorrow/Tues for his injections etc but just wanted to check in the meantime. His name is Barney

Hi-I would hazzard a guess that the puppy has possibly had more excitement in the past 24 hrs than hes had all his life!! So, still being a baby hes sleeping now coz hes tired, bless him! Don't worry, unless he has started to cough, or have 'the runs'. Let him have his sleep! good luck with the vet check, and remember, your breeder will be there to support you, so if anything like this worries you ring him/her, they won't mind!

Hi

Barney sounds just fine. Puppies should sleep most of the time. He will have been very active yesterday due to his new surroundings and consequently absolutely exhausted today. He will sleep a lot but will also play a lot. He will play more as he settles in and gets used to you and his new home.

It is quite normal for puppies to go of their food for a few days when they go to their new home too - so again don't worry. The vet should give him a good check over to make sure all is well. If you do have any worries, please do ask your vet on Tuesday. Another avenue for advice is always the breeder. If you have any doubts or worries, they should always be willing to help.

Good luck with your new boy Barney and let us know how he goes on.

I agree with the others, the pup sounds fine, but if you are at all worried do mention it to your vet, as pups (or any dog) shouldn't be vaccinated if they truly are off colour. But he does sound just llike a normal little puppy from what you have said. :)
