I have just had first-hand experience of Fitzpatricks and could not be happier with the care, treatment and result for my girl. At 8.5 yrs. she was found to have a malignant, soft tissue sarcoma on her foreleg. (I had ignored the lump for several months deciding, in my ignorance, that it was "nothing". That's a lesson I will learn from.) My vet removed the tumour but couldn't get sufficient clear margins as the tumour was invading the muscle sack. I asked for a referral to Fitzpatricks as I researched the oncology team there and found all that I wanted in one vet: a soft tissue, oncology surgeon by the name of Jon Bray. What a fantastic guy he is. He saw Isla very quickly and explained all the choices and recommendations. Isla was admitted for surgery and later for a skin graft. I could not have asked for more. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and everything was explained to me at every stage. Isla stayed in for 3 days and we went back several times for dressings, check ups, etc. Whenever we went back, Isla was thrilled to be there and very happy to go in with any member of staff. I did say that a backward glance would have been nice! He and my vet liaised over the wound and photos were sent from my vet to Fitz. to show the healing. The graft is practically healed over now and she is exercising on the lead for half an hour a day currently and is doing really well. Jon has assured me that the tumour will not recur and that we can expect a normal, active lifespan. I am incredibly relieved and extremely grateful to Jonathan Bray, Fitzpatrick Referrals and, of course, Pet Plan who have paid over £6000 without any delay.

Very interesting, especially to see a costing. I've always wondered about that when watching his programmes. Of late, money has been mentioned, but not previously so I assumed the majority of the clients were insured. Mind you, going by the CARS, many more are 'loaded' in any case. I have no doubt that all their patients receive the maximum care possible but given how long some are in there (not the Oncol. Section), the final figure must be horrendous. Small wonder the set up can afford to have as many staff as they do. He must be one of the major employers in the area!
So glad for you that the outcome is all positive.
