Hi everyone Great forum, Me and my husband are Looking for an additional family member. A busy family home with three teenagers and a rescue tripod cat but a little empty since losing out beloved dog of 15 years. Now feel ready to take on the challenge of training a puppy and making it part of our family. Love the larger breeds hence a needy or st bernard. Tara
Best advice is speak to the breed clubs. Attend breed club events and shows. Meet the dogs, breeders and owners and work out which breed you really want. Then research breeders who are health testing and have dogs which have good temperaments inside and outside the home. Meet a few and once a decision has been made ask to be put on a list. Don't rush it and don't just pick any old puppy. Newfs and Saints both need relevant health testing of both parents. Have a look at the breeders on this site and maybe call and have a chat or email them for more info. Any good breeder will be happy to chat about the breed and covering good and bad points.
Whereabouts do you live as there is a working and pastoral breeds show on Saturday 4th November in Edinburgh of Midland counties next week's visit and meet the people
