ABOUT US:
We are a household of three adults, 2 adult cats and no children.
We have a large home with a fully fenced garden and doorstep access to countryside walks.
Two adults are homeworkers so are at home all day.
We were all brought up with dogs (our mother was an Irish Setter breeder) but once careers got a hold cats were nominated as the more practical pet. We are jnow all grown up and ready to take on the responsibility of a dog.
OUR BREED CRITERIA:
Pure Bred, Medium sized, medium to short haired, active, compatible with the cats (of course), mild tempered and female. We do look forward to training but not against the breeds nature. We don't want a Laborador or a Terrier.
Any recommendations?

Hi guest
we all think our dogs are the best breed on earth so all we can do as tell you a little about our chosen breed.I have 2 norwegian elkhounds. They are a medium sized spitz breed (+MEDIUM COAT)with an independant spirit but are also very family orientated. They love people and are good with children and other animals if reared with cats etc.
They are quite unusual so if you like something out of the ordinary they're great but in the down side they shed loads of coat and do need training. They are very good doers and have a tendancy to putting on weight and are very energetic.
No slobber and NO DOGGY SMELL.

hi
i think a doberman would just love living with you all that ground to run and company all the time , he would reward you with unconditional love and protect you.my dobe in the just loves to curl in a ball and enjoys lots of cuddles(mind you they are very energenic and you will never have a dull moment) hope you find what you are looking for :)

Best bet is to visit Discover Dogs at Crufts and see what you like the look of, and talk to the owners to get the downside of owning them!
My lot are dalmatians, which fit your criteria perfectly as long as you don't mind short white hairs clinging to everything! :)

i just adore my dobermann, clean (very little house training for mine) good guard dog but friendly, mad as a hatter and beautiful only problem is that she likes to be as close as possible to you, (when in season i have to lie with my hand out of the bed at night touching her before she will settle down to sleep) .
ring round different breed clubs to ask their advice these can be found in the back of dog mags.
good luck
