Does anyone have any suggestions with regard to places/activities for days
out with our puppy?
We have taken him to the beach (60 mile round trip!!), fields, parks etc – which we will continue to do regularly but with the summer approaching we want to take some time off work and have some quality days out with him properly – but have no clue where to head.
Does anyone know of dog friendly places? Or picnic parks where dogs are welcome?

Ps we live near Manchester but would travel a reasonable distance!

the lake district is lovely, lovely walks and scenery.
I know its a few hours up the road for you but its worth the drive.
Also the yorkshire moors is a lovely day out.

We used to have a caravan in North Wales and our flatcoats loved it. We used to go near Criccieth, Beddgelert has a lovely walk by the river/stream, so does Llanstumdwy(lloyd george village) and of course the beaches too! Snowdonia is great, sure there's lots of info' on the internet.That's a 2.5 hr drive though, so it depends how far away you want to go. Delamere forest, Marbury Park. Also towards Macclesfield I found on a search engine a pub in "Gawsworth" that is dog friendly and does good lunches maybe there's some good walks nearby? Are you near Lyme Park? Let me know any good places you find as we live in Cheshire near Warrington and are always looking for new walks

We recently joined the national trust - its a few quid, but they send you a handbook - covering the whole of the uk - and for each place it tels you all the vital information including whether dogs are welcome, and any restrictions that are imposed. You also get into all these places free of charge.

If your near manchester, have you tried Dunham Massey nr Stockport? Its a hall really, but they have gorgeous garden walks and a deer park - dogs need to be on a lead in the deer park as well.

Since we've got Charlie, we've had loadsa days out!! If nothing else a dog gets you plenty of fresh air :D

We're planning on trying the beach this weekend if the weathers not too bad - we might go to Formby, as dogs are allowed in the squirrel reserve as long as they're on their lead; will need to makesure his lordship is well thethered to his harness though - while he ignores cats, he seems to think the squirrels in the local woods are a terrible threat to us, and takes it upon himself to chase the evil ones away :)

Yes, red squirrels. They have a reserve at Formby. They are pretty tame and they will feed from your hand.

Yup, red ones - see Helens reply. Although, the ones that Charlie chases in the local woods are grey ones, absolutely tons of them - you can see why the lil'red ones dont stand a chance!
