What is the best way to advertise your novice dog as a stud, I have been approached for stud but as both were novice no link was made. My stud tried but the bitch kept moving away and sitting down, making penetration difficult.

Was there anything that could have been done to aid or I thought perhaps if he could stud with an experienced bitch would it have a better result so when we try again on her next season he may perhaps be more confident. Hence why I thought I could perhaps get him more experience before then, but don't know how to go about it.

Any advice welcomed
Thanks

Most bitch owners will be looking for males either at working events, shows or sporting comps. These are their shop Windows for upcoming potential studs. So getting him out there and seen helps if your not already, it also will help show you where his strengths and weaknesses lie. Of course being fully health for the breed is a must as no responsible bitch owner would consider him otherwise.
You could also contact your dogs breeder, they may know of a bitch owner who may consider him a suitable match.

Sounds like the bitch wasn't on the right days. This is the sort of thing you need to be able to tell if offering your dog at stud. It can be very hard work. Sod's law says you will get a tie outdoors in pouring rain for half an hour, breaking your backs. You might have to help position the dog or bitch on a slope or similar if there is a slight size variation. You might have to help guide some dogs, and you will definitely need to hold dog and bitch once tied. Personally I never have and never will advertise a dog of mine at stud. I also always turn down people who ask unless I already know them, or they are known within the breed. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I wasn't 100 % sure of that pups from one of my boys would end up in the right homes, and not with unsuitable people. All my boys have done well at shows and are health tested and proven. If people are interested they will have done their research, seen the dogs at shows, checked their hip scores, eye tests etc, as well as the lines, and those are the sort of people I would consider. So no need to advertise as it only attracts the wrong kind of breeder.

Yes so far I haven't advertised and do the shows etc but have only met other dogs of my breed at one show making it difficult to get him out there. There are more coming up in the autumn that will hopefully have others of my breed

Thank you for your thoughts and advice, I said that she wasn't probably ready due to a dropping off of interest if my boy but next time she will come to stay for a few days
