Topic Dog Boards / General / embroidered name number half check collars
- By ali-t [gb] Date 04.07.17 08:42 UTC
I'm looking for any recommendations for half check collars embroidered with owners contact details.  We are getting through ID tags very quickly as she keeps losing them when playing.  I don't like the ones I have seen as they have a plastic clasp and the only half check one I have seen is all fabric but I prefer the chain ones.  In an ideal world I would like to fit 2 phone numbers and a postcode on it. Any suggestions or recommendations?

No idea on embroidered ones as I don't like fabric collars but best tag I have found for not coming adrift is from
http://www.indigocollartags.com/tags.shtml
No way it can come off unless the dog loses the collar as well, they are dearer than some similar ones but Zumas one is over 9 years old and still very clear engraving

They look good but £10 a tag - eek! I would probably spend that on multiple tags over the years though.  Thanks.

I love Indigo tags too.  Worth investing in as you just don't have to worry about losing and replacing them.  Mine are over five years old now and as good as new.  Delighted with them and wish I'd found them sooner - before i wasted lots of money on constantly replacing tags!

As I mentioned there are now a lot of others cheaper that go on the same, it was just that I can't remember what the firms are called:grin:
I got that one after having to get IN a crate with a 10mth GSD as he had somehow got a disc on a ring sort stuck in the bars of the crate and was having hysterics as 'I AM STUCK... MUM ...HELP !!!' all very loudly :eek::eek:

I've used indigo tags on three dogs, the last two wore them for at least ten years if not longer, current dog has had hers for four years.
I too got fed up with losing the name tags mainly due to the ring gradually wearing away the disk making the hole bigger and bigger until they vanished one day in a field somewhere. Or the they just came off the collar somehow. Never lost the indigo ones, yes expensive, but at least you will know your dog will be carrying I/d.
Having said that, I've been using another tag as well which has a black paw print on it giving my new mobile number and holiday home address and it seems quite a thick disk, I can't remember where I got it from, will need to do a bit of research, but it is still going strong and hasn't tried to come off. I replaced the ring with a much more robust double ring which was originally on a car key ring.

I have also put a very small disc on his collar with Tattoo no on one side and the phone no for database on the other- on the theory that its easier than a stranger trying to get the no from inside a hairy ear  even if they thought to look.

I have lovely soft but strong embroidered half checks/martingales, made by Trailbaby sled dog wear. I've found them fantastic, superfast service and great prices, I have a whole rainbow set of their collars now, just chuck them in the washing machine when the dogs roll and they come out looking brand new again.

I recently bought a couple of collars from this company: Custom Pet Collars   Very pleased with them and cheap as chips.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone.  Admin that is the idea I am looking for but they are all clip fastening collars and don't do half check ones. Chaumsong, they look nice but the only embroidery seems to be the dogs name.  I am looking to have phone number(s) and postcode on it.  I might have to go with the indestructible tag option.  Thanks for the recommendations, I had never heard of indigo tags before.

Biothane bert on fb might be able to do something for you . He does bespoke collars from biothane a material used in horse reins apparently. I have two and they have all their details printed on permanently, tough collars easily wiped clean. lots of lovey colours too

Admin that company is in China & can take months(literally) to complete orders. Just a heads up

I'm trying to find the company that a friend has ordered from. I asked her but she sent me a link not for the company I was on about. I'll keep digging on it for you

Thanks for the link but I couldn't see any martingale ones with chains which is what I am after.
- By suejaw Date 04.07.17 21:59 UTC
Ah.. does it need to have a chain? I've found the fabric ones which are total slip or Martingale to be very effective. Recently had a half check snap on me when one of mine decided to chase a rabbit. The metal broke apart and off she went leaving me and the collar in hand.

My collars from Trailbaby all have my phone number and postcode on them, she'll put whatever you want on them
