hello again

my girls litter (and my girl) aredoing great almost two weeks old now all gaining weight - one smaller girl but still gaining - and my girl is a great mom.
more happy to leave them for a little longer (first week only left to toilet)

however she has started to destroy things that are in her whelping room.

this is either stress - not sure what over no visiters dogs kept well away from the room ect and shes not acting stressed (if that makes sense)

or she wants a walk. as ahound she is quiet inside and energetic outside happy to sleep the day away however she does need exersize. iv only had problems twice before with her and her mom when i was ill no one could walk them all ok for the first few days then distruction started once back out on walks they were fine.

she normaly get 3-4 hours a day of lead time and on lead time

pups are two weeks

can she go for short walks? just a potter for 10 min to start with? i think last time the pups where weaning before she went out but i cant remmebr.

i will of cause be looking in to making sure it isnt stress or anything else but i really do think its walking related shes never been one to spend time in the garden so although she has access to it she doesnt really go out there.

My pups are a week old and I've been walking the mum for 10-15mins. She usually rushes back but really wants a walk!

Glad everything is going well with pups and mum!
I had a litter in March and mum didn't want to leave them for the first week. Then on day 7 she went to the front door and made it clear she was ready to go out for walks. So I would always go by mum. I would say that if your girl is being destructive then it's definitely a sign that she's in need of some space and ready to get away from them for a bit and as you said she's used to getting a lot of exercise (much like mine) so she will be more inclined to get out for a walk. So I would say yes to taking her out for a 10-15 minute walk, make sure all the pups have fed and are content, if you're worried and have a spare person then get them to stay with the pups whilst you're out, and then go out with her on/off lead whatever she's used to and what you think is best (for me that was off lead and she was perfectly normal). At this stage I'd even think about taking her out for a 10-15 minute walk in the morning and then again in the evening. Then when you're back get her in with the pups and you'll notice a difference straight away! It's amazing how a little time away can encourage them to want to be with them more! Mine loved her walks and was eager to go out but then once we got home afterwards so couldn't wait to get back in with them...that was until they developed teeth!
But do remember to have a disinfectant solution ready for when you return from the walk as she'll need her milk bar, legs and paws wiped down with it before she goes back in with the pups.
Remember that mum (if she's a good mum, which it sounds like she is) knows better than we do, even if we think we know better. Listen to mum, remember that she doesn't need to spend 24/7 with the pups. If the room is the right temperature and they've been fed and content then if she wants to get up and have a wander round and have a lie down in a different room then that's fine. Anyway gradually increase her exercise as the pups get older. It sounds as though you're doing great so well done, hope they continue to thrive and that mum enjoys her walks!

This is my third litter (two dogs) and im pretty sure iv forgotten most of the other two lol

After i posted i took her out for a 10min walk and she loved it tail wagging sniffing her wat along lol

When back i cleanned her down a bit and she went straight back to her pups to feed and clean.

She has run of the dinning room (whelping room) and the kitchen normally but my other half is away with our male so she has had he run of down stairs and has been coming out to spend time with me and my other girl (her mom)

I was going to stress the importance of wiping her feet and teats down with a diluted disinfectant, just in case she walks something back into the puppies.   We had a good outside area with out litters, so walking mums out off the property wasn't necessary.   But be careful.
