Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / AI timing help?!

Hi All,

We had our girl AI'd on Friday evening - side by side and they also used an extender. The reason that we decided to AI is because the stud was a bit heavy for her initially.
She was very relaxed throughout the whole process and the clinician was really happy with how it went. We also had a slip mating (brief) with the same stud on Saturday evening.

We have boys at home that had been crying for her but this has really intensified yesterday (Sunday) and today and they stopped eating. Now I read that dogs behave like this typically on days 4, 5 & 6 post ovulation. I've also heard that fresh Semen can live in the bitches uterus for a few days. So what I'm asking is do you think that the AI on friday will have covered us? Or did we go to early?

Without a progesterone test no one can really advise. A side by side is almost as effective as a natural mating and wider range for success.

Can you not take her back to the stud?  Chances are you were too early hence the slip mating
