Can you lift an endorsement on a bitch you bred owned by someone else to have a litter then put it back on? Or once it's off it's off.

Once it's off, it's off, unless the dog is back in your possession and ownership. And then you'd have to get the owner to sign a new contract that they knew and understood about the endorsement when you passed it back into their ownership.

I don't have too much experience putting endorsements on, but I understand why they are put on in the first place (with good intentions for the breed etc etc).

Assuming 'Health Results' are satisfactory ....? why does a breeder take them off to have 1 litter then put them back on again ....? is one of the reasons because the breeder doesn't trust the new owner to select the most compatible stud dog/dogs in the future, or am I reading too much into things ....?

A friends bitch had endorsements on her, the breeder(is her friend) so lifted them to have one litter, The breeder wrote to the kennel club and said it was just for one liter and the letter also went when my friend reg them. This was 11 years ago now phone the kennel club and ask. All ours have endorsements on them even the ones we keep until all health test come back then we lift them.

This can be done by transferring the ownership back to you and you lifting the endorsement, going ahead and breeding her (even with her owner now does the actual mating, whelping and rearing the litter!) and then you put the endorsement back on before she's transferred back into the name of her 'owner'.   But this is where I suggest, it gets messy (if not messy enough already).   If the bitch is in your name, so would the puppies from her be too and I doubt the owner of the bitch now, wants that.  

If YOU feel the bitch has matured into a good enough example of her breed to have the endorsement lifted, by you, and bred by her current owner, then normally speaking that's it.  The endorsement is lifted and cannot be put back on. 

You might talk to the KC about this!!!

Same here.  I have always put restrictions on the whole litter.  If I keep a pup that turns out to be top notch, then I lift restrictions.  With my breed being small it's important to me that patellas are perfect.

If I had bought a bitch from you (not you in particular) and she turned out to be ideal, I would ask you to lift restrictions.  I would expect to have a good relationship with the breeder of my pup by the time this happened.  If I was told that restrictions would only be lifted for one litter I would be insulted.  If you hadn't reached the stage that you trusted me then don't lift them just for one time.

Unfortunately it's not as clear cut as you think. Owner is a friend. My Contract stated hips to be done and if a good score/bitch of good type, endorsement would be lifted. This is identical contract to the one I had from her. However bitch may be in whelp (planned) but hips have not been done.

I think you are right.   Thankfully the only situation I had where I sold two to a fellow breeder who at the time I trusted, with no endorsements, I paid the price big time.   Mainly because she sold them abroad after she'd had them for a couple of years.   Otherwise ALL the puppies we sold were fully endorsed and wanting to breed from them later, never happened.   If I ever bred another litter, which I won't, I doubt I'd want to sell ANY to a fellow breeder.

If the bitch was good enough to be bred from then I'd have no problem lifting the no breed endorsement, period.  To be honest I don't really see a reason where putting it back on again afterwards, would be relevant.   At the end of the day, a non breeding endosement only means the litter can't be KC registered, not that the bitch can't be bred from in any case.

Then I would not lift the endorsement until the bitch had been x-rayed after the litter has been born, and then the pups can be registered.

If your just waiting on the results, then wait until they are in before lifting.
