I breed Chihuahua Long Coats. I buy the toe nail clippers for humans! I've tried so many different ones and can't get on with the cat clippers that the vet advised. I use what is the most comfortable for me. I find that they are ok for some of my adults too.
Cavaliers here and yes human nail clippers (and a deep breath!). Wait till they are asleep and you can pick them up and take the tips off at least the front nails before they start wriggling. I've just had to tell myself sternly to be brave and get on with it!
I use human nail clippers and yes, have often had to nip the pointy ends off very young puppies, to protect mum! And then move on to bigger toe clippers before using the Resco clippers I use for adults.
