Hope someone can help. I have a 10 month old border collie male who has recently been neutered. Problem is he keeps leaping our fence to get into the neighbours garden. We have made the fence higher (it is now appox 9 ft) but he can scale it easily. The neighbours have dogs and he is happy to spend the day with them but sometimes he leaps their fence and goes into other neighbours gardens who are not so welcoming.
We have tried everything including keeping him on a chain in the garden but that is no life for him. We want him to stay in our garden but everytime we let him out he goes straight for the fence.
Please help
Nic.

Perhaps you should take him to a local training club. one which does agility might be best if it enjoys jumping so much. If you get control & command of it plus it gets more brain stimulation it may prefer to stay at home.

I tend to agree with Norma's advice, also, is your dog in the garden all day? Sorry I don't think that was clear from your post - it's just that, as I am sure you know, BC's need a huge amount of not just physical work but MENTAL, so if they are not played with and trianed and given a job to do, they will find their own entertainment:).

As I say i am not sure from your post, so forgive me if I make assumptions, but if he is in the garden all day do reconsider your position. As you rightly say, being on a chain is no life but if he is on his own in the garden then IMHO it's perhpas not much better.

Anyway, hope you get it sorted,
Lindsay

Just had another idea, put up jackal fencing which is at a 45% angle to the top of the fence, it takes an incredible dog to get over that type of fencing. But do other stuff wiht him too and play with toys etc. Also try maybe stuffed kongs and Buster cubes for keeping his mind a bit busier.
