Hi Shirley
I found this out a couple of weeks ago and they only wrote to me after the insurance had actually run out. We have now changed to morethan.
Pity really cos Asda were excellent in paying out for Dimes accident. We have recently claimed the maximum £5000 and they paid , no quibble.

So they have stopped without telling anyone!!! Are those of us still paying into policies covered then? I'm going to have to get onto them - really annoys me this type of thing - thinking I take the care to insure my animals only to find they might not be insured at all. grrrrrrrrr

They told me that letters were sent out in january but i only got mine a couple of days ago. and as the policy runs out for individuals they will not be renewing them. they are looking to restructure asda pet insurance and possibly bring out another one sometime in the future. I was annoyed because as they did not give me enough notice i could not overlap the policy. Gabys policy expired with Asda and I have to wait 28 days for my new policy to kick in. just got to hope that nothing happens in the meantime so you need to be aware of that.

I only got my letter after I got in touch with them.Im one of the unlucky ones .We had Ling booked in to see a specialist Friday just gone.
I will now be lumbered with the bill.My new insurance does't kick in for two weeks.Ive gone with vet2pet insurance now.
Ill just have to watch my bank balance go down.
I feel sorry for people who can't aford it after all we have paid to insure our pets.
Just my Luck.
Shirley.

I would have thought that HAS to be a definite date given ..enough time for you to arrange other insurance before they can lapse the insurance that you have. It may be worth getting in touch with the financial ombudsman about this whole thing...all of you.
The website you need is here....the Insurance Ombudsman is now a part of the
Financial OmbudsmanIf it happened to me and I wasleft with a period of non cover due to Asda change in policy I would write to find out where I stand

HI All
When I was looking for insurance only four weeks ago I also saw asda advertising pet insurance so phoned them for a quote, only to be told they no longer sell pet insurance(there's some sort of problem causing this??) But will hopefully be able to sell pet insurance in the future

It was like they wanted to sell it to me but couldn't??
So no asda do no longer sell pet insurance I am now with direct line.

i've just rung ASDA,
what the lady on the phone said is;if you took out your policy before january 1st 2003,you will be covered until the end of the year(i think that she meant the end of the policy).it is something to do the underwriters pulling out.these underwriters have to honour policys taken out in 2002 until the end of the policy year.the lady also said that by the time our policy will run out (october) they are hoping to have a new underwriter and everything will be back to normal.i asked about notification letters and she says these will be sent out when the policy would be up for renewal explaining about the underwriters etc.
i hope this will help clear things up

We have 'TESCO' pet insurance: it's pretty good.
