Our bitch has just had a litter which is now 4 days old. Strangely one of our puppies looks as if she is trying to stand up and is pushing herself up against mum to do so. She also has her hind legs flat out to the side when laying down. She has recently started to cry out sometimes but doesn't constantly whine. We thought she may be hungry however we are struggling in making her latch on. She routes to find milk but then won't latch or take a bottle. Any ideas on why any of this is?

Is she gaining weight?  If so and looks nice and sleek with rounded tummy, I have found they can get wind and moan and wander around on their tummies to get rid of it.

As for getting up on her legs to milk bar at 4 days mine are starting to do this as they are getting stronger, they also start wagging their tails when feeding and milk flowing well..

I weighed her this morning and she had gained weight however after reweighing her this evening, she had lost weight.

She seems to be crying a lot more now and seems more distressed. Mum is also distressed every time she squeals. She has eaten and been to the toilet so we don't know what is causing her this. Any ideas?

Is she hydrated,  how does she look compared to the others?

Did you check for cleft palate,  could Mum have laid or stepped on her?
