Does anyone know offhand if a dogs rabies vaccine is valid till 30.09.16 will they allow us to come back to the UK on 26.09.16 or is it like our human passport where they like you to have 3 months (I think) on it?

The boys are booked in this afternoon to have their rabies boosters, but I just noticed that Xylo's isn't due till 30th September. After this show in September when I come back on the 26th he won't be travelling to Germany till next year, possibly April. I'd rather wait till then to give him his booster if I can, rather than give it early, but of course I don't want to risk not being able to bring him home :-)

So does anyone know if that date is the legal requirement? Even if we miss our ferry the latest we will be back is the 27th, in really extreme circumstances maybe bad weather and we'd have to stay at sea another day - 28th. It would have to be a major emergency to keep us in Germany till the 30th, and in that case I guess I could get his booster there.

As far as I know the passport is valid until the actual date the next booster's due, but being a real worrier I'd be anxious in case there was a ferry strike or something to delay my return.

Thanks JG, I guess I could have his booster done over there if there was a ferry strike and I had to stay. I'm off to the vets just now so will check with them too.
