Hi guest, glucosamine chondroitin, MSM, green lipped mussel, are all supplements for arthritis. Why don`t you register, it`s free & tell us what breed of dog you have & the age.

Hi Jackie, thats a good age for your dog :) I use a product called Syn-Flex, liquid glucosamine & I order it on line from the States, type the name into a search engine & it will give you all the info on it. The cost worked out to about £20 for an 8oz bottle but I only have to give my dog (34kg Labrador) a quarter of an ounce per day, it goes by weight, so lasts a fair length of time. There are a lot of different supplement products & there are a few people on the board using various ones, so I`m sure you`ll get some different opinions. If you type canine arthritis+alternative supplements into a search engine you`ll get loads of info. What kind of medication is your dog on? It seems very expensive.

Hi
my staff has recently had an op on his knee and is on Glucosamine and chondroitin. He was prescribed Synoquin but the vet has said that once he has finished these that the ones from the health food shops for human use are just as effective and much cheaper(paid £15 for 120 tablets couple of weeks ago)

Whatever is being prescribed, try www.lambriarvetsupply.com they are great. Or get a prescription from your vet and purchase the drug direct from Vet-medic pharmacy. Not sure of address offhand, but try Dog World paper or just tap it into your search engine. I found them under the word vaccine via Yahoo!
