hi guys need some advice I have wormed pups with pancur at 3 weeks and started 5weeks but only gave them one of the 3 doses. I ran out of pancur so order more, but when it arrived ive ordered Drontal wormer instead {I'm blaming puppy brain} my question is can I mix wormers but I don't want to overdose them please help.

I'd wait to 7 weeks.  I do mien at 3 and 7 as Mum is done in whelp and Panacur is normally given at monthly intervals, and I suspect the closer dosage is aimed at pups that are likely to be wormy (when bitch isn't treated in pregnancy).

Years ago when vet dispensed the Panacur I was told to worm at 4 and 8 weeks, and all was fine, a couple of litters later I got the packaged product and wormed at 2 1/2, and 5 and had terrible raging diarrhoea, when I did them at 5 weeks.

Ever since I have only ever done them at 3 and 7 (so the tums are settled before they go), and advise doing again at 11 weeks and monthly to 6 months.

I believe Drontal is given two weekly as it isn't' effective in immature stages as the Panacur.

In all my dog breeding years since my first litter in 1995 I have never seen any evidence of worms in my puppies or adult dogs.

All my adults get wormed when a bitch comes in season before mating, and when all the pups have left, and twice a year, if the above doesn't cover that.

The Panacur syringe paste says to work at 2wks, 4wks and 6 wks "and then again before leaving the breeder's premises...".

If pups are over 5kg when vet checked at 6 weeks...(if you do it) the vet will advise to use advocate spot on instead for the 8th week dose and not bother with the panacur.

I did it with my last litter and will most likely do it this way again :)

I won't use spot-ons with my dogs or pups, as they contain pesticides that affect more than the dog and since we don't have lungworm where I live anyway, which is the main reason for Advocate.

But we will use Drontal Puppy for the final dose as it's going to be easier than the amount of Panacur needed by then & is one dose only b

Never used the paste dosage, strength and active ingredients may differ from the 10% liquid.

I know Rabid but I don't like giving it to them until they weaning with food in belly so start at 3weeks just my preference

My pups will start going to their new homes the weekend after they turn 7 weeks. Plus I won't use spot on either. They are checked at 6 weeks when eye tested and the new owners take to own vets within 4days of getting pup it's in my contract. Mine are medium breed so some may be close to 5kg
