Well pups are now 3 and a half weeks old and we have started to introduce solids. I tried chicken but they weren't too keen so I went back to tried and tested beef - lots of comments and happy squeaking going on. Polished off in seconds. So beef it is then. I have been adding puppy milk when blitzing it and every time I do it, i think it smells like sweet mashed potatoes! I used goats milk last time but as I have 2kgs of this I thought I'd use this first.

All the pups are well over the 2.5kg mark now except one who isn't even 2kgs. She is gaining but slowly. Yesterday was the first day she gained the same amount as her siblings and I put it down to weaning. However today, I had to literally put small amounts in her mouth to encourage her to eat. She had half of what the others had and was happy to swallowing it but not happy to lap herself (she did it fine yesterday). She has been vet checked and is fine - I'm wondering whether she is just too busy whinging to be eating?

Tonight the pups will be brought in to the internal conservatory. It is sooner than I would have liked but I am struggling to keep them cool in the study as the temperature is getting up to 26-27 degrees during the day. Even now I have put ice blocks under the vet bed and have a fan hanging off the side to keep them comfortable. I was worried the direct air would make them uncomfortable so I turned it off for a bit and they went back to screaming so I have turned it back on.

I shall be returning to my own bed tonight too as there simply isn't enough room for the pen and my mattress alongside the resident fish tank and rocking chair...I shall be doing the same as with the last litter and setting up a toilet area with inconti pads, a play area on vinyl and their sleep area with vet bed...although I know they will sleep on the vinyl, play in the toilet area and pee on the vet bed....let the really hard work commence!

Mine have been eating mashed up NatureDiet Puppy in Royal Canin Babydog Milk for 2 days now and loving it, although standing all over it.

Ours are Puppy Culture puppies, so they have had a toilet area in their whelping box for about a week now and we are getting 2 thirds of pees and poos in the toilet area already.

All is going great :)
