Hi Pam,
I have recently been sent some info from Pet Plan about their showbreeder insurance. It is specially designed for breeders and covers complications in pregnancy and giving birth. Don't know prices but if you want their number let me know. I know the Kennel Club one will pay out if an emergency C.section is needed, but not a voluntary one.

I made enquiries about the Pet Plan insurance that covers in welp bitches for ceasers etc. this policy has to be in force for at least 6 months before welping, so if your thinking of getting it do so now, well before you are having a litter, hope this helps Pam.

my girls are with pet plan show breeders it the first £100 for excess only, up to £500 to claim too, after this year i may stop the whelping one and put the money away in a dog account,

Hi Everone sorry not to reply till now.
Still not got PC set up at home.. well it is set up but can't get it to go on line. I was spoiled with my broadband must get it back in..
Anyway I called Petplan last week and whilst though cover OK I felt Just in my own opinion that the rules for taking it out were a little off but I am maybe greedy and they maybe have been conned in the past.
£30 per month approx for 6 months before you will be considered and only if you have whelped a litter successfully before and you must provide proof of this so that means in my case in the shortest time possible to have cover would be 6 months at £30 plus one full years payments also as they would not cover for a first litter so even if I took it out and had a litter in 18 months time I would have paid out £540. I am planning to only have one litter from this bitch so think unless I find something more suitable I will have to do without.
My vet has gave me some approx prices for some senarios so think I will have to go with this.
Things are never easy eh??
Thanks all.

briedog,
These where my thoughts if I put £40 away a month and just let it build up. I do something like this with a show account also so may have one doggy account full stop. I don't plan to breed very as would be only for me really so this may be better option.
