I ordered the worming paste syringes online and it hasn't arrived yet but I do have the bottled stuff - how do I work out what to give each pup. I cannot locate the box.

On a side note (pointless to have 2 threads) - my girl has really hot ears and is still panting quite a lot. Her temperature is slightly higher than normal but only by a degree or so. I looked in the ears today and there is a lot of brown gunk - like ear mites but she has never had any complaints ever before and always had clean lugs. One sounds slightly squelchy. I have ear flush (trizchlor) which I use for my other girl (although hers contains steroids added by the vet) that is unopened and unaltered which I can use to clean them but don't want to aggravate the issue.
She does still dig every so often but nothing major and over after a few scrapes of the carpet. Everything else normal - eating/eliminating/feeding pups etc.

Puppies have all opened their eyes and am pretty sure ears are open too as they all looked up when I whipped round with the hoover. They are sitting up and using hind legs like skittish foals. They actually tried to come over to me when I was talking to them from outside the box. Happy days :)

I have to go to london on sunday which is unavoidable but have got a trusted friend to sit with them - even then I am tying myself in knots with worry and will be calling her every half hour for progress reports!

I always use the suspension for my litters.

We are worming tomorrow (2wks) as well, with the Panacur syringes.  Can't help with the dosage for the liquid!  I'm a little nervous as my girl doesn't tolerate wormers well and I'm probably in for a day of whining and restlessness as it tends to give her a tummy ache.

But mine still have eyes tight shut, and ears closed at 2 weeks. 

With your girl's ears, I would recommend Thornit.  Has fixed every ear problem we've ever had.  Only I'm not sure about using it if she has pups at the moment because the powder does tend to get everywhere and is quite strong smelling (in a medicinal way).  I'd be inclined to clean the ears of wax with warm water and cotton wool and make sure you dry with a tissue properly afterwards.  Once the pups are a little bigger, I'd use Thornit.

Every bitch I have bred from has had waxy ears while nursing and for a while after. I put it down to being in a warmer environment.... As soon as they are off the litter and back into their kennels it resolves on its own after an initial clean.it has never been ear mites.  I personally wouldn't use thornit on a nursing bitch.

Thank you - I do have thornit but I didn't want to risk it as the pups are now more lively and like to nuzzle mum's face and ears so I just wiped clean with a little warmed olive oil and she seemed happy with that. There is definite squelching in her right ear but nothing smelly or foul so I shall keep an eye on it and get vet's advice if it becomes a worry.

I'm sure it won't be long now Rabid - I do believe my breed is rather advanced when it comes to early development. They are peeing unaided and trying to poop too...although mum will do it but you have to give them credit for trying!

Mine are peeing unaided and doing the occasional poo unaided too, although not much sign of this being intentional/aware peeing/pooping yet.

They are also staggering around on their little feet, which is very funny.  I just want them to wake up and interact with each other and me, they are definitely still neonatal at the moment.

The opening of the eyes initiates a whole new phase.  They become aware that there is someone else out there!  They start to try to walk in ernest.  It's almost like a second birth (minus the stress!).

I know, I can't wait.  I think it is about to start as some of their eyes seem partially unstuck, the lids are held together by only part of the eyelid when I look closely, so hopefully will happen in the next couple days!

Nope, Day 16 and still no eyes yet

If you have the litter in soft light, the eyes are more likely to open earlier than if they were in bright light.   If you look, but DON'T force anything, you should see little slits by now I'd suggest.

I can't see any eyeball, except for a few places where the eyelid is starting to come unstuck.  I can see that there is pigment around the eyes now and details and eyelashes, which all weren't there at birth.

OMG, we have eyes this evening!!!!    Not totally open yet but now about 50% of each eye lid is unstuck and blinking is going on :)

My pups are kept in semi-light even now once their eyes are open. The blind is drawn throughout the day and night and I turn on a soft lamp round 8ish in the evening that stays on all night - so that I can see if anything is wrong straight away.

I shall be moving them into the internal conservatory when they are 3 weeks old but will do it in the evening so that they aren't too shocked by the bright sun the next day.

Now the fun really begins as they will suddenly develop personalities - as if over night!

I do similar, gsdowner.  Mine are in a whelping box which is half covered and shaded.  The blind is down by the box.  There is light from another window but not direct.  At night I have a dim table lamp on, so I can see easily.
