looking for advise please. We had a planned breeding with our 2 dogs. On day 15 she stood for him and he mounted her as normal. He did the happy feet dance etc but didn't tie. She let out a sharp Yelp so I'm guessing he went inside her. We kept them together as long as we could and she went into her bed cleaned herself etc. His penis stayed out with the glands too for about 15 mins then went back to normal. Today day 16 she has gone really quiet and won't even come out of her cage and he doesn't seem interested in her much now. Is this normal. Thank you.

Some maiden bitches will vocalise - we had one who did, but then she did the same when producing her puppies too!!    If you are asking about her being quiet now, some bitches can be from the get go while others don't slow down a bit, until their increased girth means they can't be as active.

A slip tie isn't absolutely necessary to have a successful outcome - I had one who never tied with his bitches but only missed to one who came back at the next season to our other proven dog, and missed again.  She was taken to a third dog, not in our kennel, and again missed.   Clearly it wasn't the fault of my boys.    We used to upend our bitches after he came out to help the sperm to get where it was needed rather than spilling out again - whether this helped or not I'm not sure, but we were helped with our visiting bitches by a good friend who was a whiz at mating the breed.

If you are concerned about what's going on, I can only suggest you have your vet take a look in case she was injured in the process, but obviously nothing will be known re a pregnancy or not, at this very early stage.   Conception may not even have taken place yet.
