I have a working ess that I am training myself with a little help from my dad.She is 4 years old and is fit and healthy. She has had all the relevant tests fo hips and eyes.My dad who sometimes breeds springers has said I can let her have a litter this season if all goes well. The problemisthe last 2 times we mated her she did not tie and wehad no pups.I have looked into the possible causes of this. After the first tme it happned we had her swabbed to check for infection ,the was none.e put her on antibioticsbefore the second time to beon the safe sid but still she didn' tie .
Is there anything I can do to make sure it doesn't happen again

At what days in her season have you tried mating her. Sometimes you may not get a tie as the bitch isn't ready yet, or of course the dog may not have ejaculated.

For best chance of a conception you should mate her every second day for as long as she will stand. Once she is no longer willing this should signal that she has gone past the fertile stage.

The most common reason for a bitch to miss is mistiming the mating.

Some bitches ovulate earlyu in their cycle, and some can be very late.

It may be wortth getting a series of POrogesterone blood tests done to pin point ovulation, and time mating accordingly.

I know how frustrating this can be!
