I am going crazy with the quantity of poop and pee which 5 puppies (they weigh between 1.5 and 2 Kilos) manage to produce.  I suppose it must have something to do with the constant rain (days and days of it), which prevents them from spending much time outdoors.  Tonight I finally broke down in tears, as I have changed the papers time again today, have mopped up all day, rushed to remove the poops before they get eaten, washed the floors umpteen times (mud tracked in every time they go out, a total of 55 paws, counting the adult dogs), pee from having missed the papers or just squatting anywhere (the puppies).  How can tiny puppies even MAKE this much pee?  I am on my own, and sometimes it gets to me when I leap from the sofa tonight for the 100th time.... My puppies are stationed right here in the livingroom. I find the last two weeks really tough every time.  We have to keep the puppies until they are 10 weeks old (regulations).  Maybe my setup is just not ideal, even though I can change and adjust it as the puppies grow.  I don't know....

That's worried me a bit, 55 paws?

So sorry you its all getting to you, don't envy you at all. Hang on in there, won't be for much longer, maybe the sun will be out tomorrow

So, you must have a three legged dog?
I am holding my thumbs that the Suisse weather improves soon for you

I really feel for you Nimue - we have had non stop rain and thunderstorms all day and it's still going...

Good grief, I counted wrong!   Never was too good at maths.  Let's see:  I have 7 adult dogs and 5 puppies = 12.  12 X 4 = 48 paws.  Sorry about that.  Like I say, I was a little stressed out.  Better now.  Slept quite well.  Pups actually managed to use their papers during the night, nothing on the floor (in their nighttime enclosure).  Ya gotta luv 'em...

Oh you sound like me with my last litter!!   I am on my own and also had the pen i n the sitting room....I wouldn't say that they took over exactly ,but the sires owner told someone that I live with the dogs, not they live with me!!!!

I was quite lucky in that Flossie kept her babies clean etc and I had very little to do...until weaning when I extended the pen to the entire length of the room for them - you can see what the sires owner meant now can't you LOL - but once I made the far end of the pen into a toilet area for them, which they took to brilliantly, I was forever in there cleaning the poos before they trod it all back to the other end!!!
Anyway, this time I am having the whelping bed in the computer room here with me and it's right next to my bedroom where I can be on call if Flossie needs me during the night.  I live in a bungalow  which makes things much easier.  Once they are weaned and on the move, I shall move the whelping bed into the kitchen where there are tiled floors, much easier to keep clean and I have had a patio built for them to play outside on, fenced in by puppy panels.  This will (hopefully) assist in toilet training and let them exercise to build up their muscles in their back legs.  They will be confined to the kitchen and the utility corridor which is also tiled, and that leads out to the patio.
Of course, we've all heard the one about the best laid plans of mice and men.....
