I know this has been discussed before but could someone remind me please why we should not use one of the alternatives to Piriton? Having just experienced my youngest being stung by a wasp or bee which I thought at the time was an adder bite, I must resume carrying anti histamines and want to use the right one. Her muzzle was twice its normal size by the time I got to the vets from the forest. Poor dog. All okay by the next day thank goodness ( and was never off her food!)

It's the drowsy one, the different brands have different ingredients in them. You can also use the shops own brand version if the  ingredients are the same as piriton drowsy one, not the one a day

I find Piriton the best tablet for me and worked with my boy after being stung on both paws as a puppy. I iound the alternative brand not the same for myself. If I'm suffering at night as I am now 2 piriton help me sleep

Same for me.   I always have Piraton in my medicine box (unless my husband manages to have used the last one and not told me!!).    For those who don't know what they are doing, it's always best to run this past your vet re dose etc. however.

A single piriton can knock me out for a day and a half and I'm not a small person, my husband on the other hand can take 2 and it have no effect whatsoever. I now have to take loratadine instead for my hay fever. My symptoms have changed so much over the years. I think I am allergic to most tree pollens now. I have irritating itching in my nose, throat and ears and I have dark patches in both corners of my mouth from itching and causing the skin to dry out.

I used to have this fabulous, prescription only, medication called fexofenidine but can't take it with the type of insulin I use :(

One of my girls will spit out the tablet but will happily lick the syrup

A lot of people are now recommending to eat honey produced by local bees to help with hay fever. Not sure if hone will help the dog but I do like it on porridge or thick cut bread!
