My dog has been prescribed Malaseb Dog Shampoo.  As I'm unable to bath her at home my local groomer has taken on this task.  I'd be interested in any comments you may like to make.

My only comment is, yes I used Malaseb on one of mine years ago and it's a very potent medication that worked very well for my dog.

I have used Malaseb and it's very effective, you do generally have to use it twice a week to start with and leave it on the dog for the prescribed time before rinsing, very nice of your groomer to volunteer

I use it on both of mine who have allergies . Each vet will decide how often is appropriate I have heard of some using it daily for a short while then reducing down. It suits  mine but it can also for some be too drying and in some cases actually make  the skin sore. Its a case of suck it and see.
I don't always bath the whole dog every time particularly as one of mine is 45kg and double coated so a nightmare at home to even get thoroughly wet let alone dry. The alternative is to just shampoo the area causing the problem, hotspots and feet being our problem. I find this works quite well .
When my groomer has them I take my malasab along for her to use. She is more than happy to use a customers desired shampoo .
Having said its drying I find it actually gives them  lovely soft coat and relieves itching. They also have omega 3 supplements to help with the skin/ear problems

Thank you for replying.  The shampoo has to be used once a week so I've booked the groom for 6 weeks.  That is when the groomer goes on holiday for 2 weeks.  During that time I'll see what the vet thinks I should do next. It appears to be a dangerous solution so I just hope the groomer knows what she is doing.

It's fine unless.u have an allergy to any of the ingredients. And obvioulsu away from.eyes.can't see why ur groomer would worry and if she is then gloves is the answer.tbh.having looked at the suiff hairdressers use I don't think it's any worse.. I've been using for around 18 months with no probben. The other option if u arnt happy with.the ingredients and some  peoole arnt.is to find A.antifungal.antibacterial shampoo that's natural. They do exist fenland forager does one as.do.dermatologist for.example ..

I have used this but I would warn you - it's very strong and often left mine with very red skin afterwards.  For that reason I prefer the non-prescription DermOpt.    I can't therefore say it worked with mine.
