As the title says really. My friend has just got a shih tzu pup and it will need grooming but she doesn't want him shaved and scalped but rather trimmed and scissored. I am pretty sure there will not a lot of point in her asking for tips from the breeder as they were a 'own mum and dad, would like the last pups to go to a home together, imperial shih tzu' kind of set up

What sort of brushes will she need to groom him at home in between trims? I have told her to start ASAP for a minute or two at a time to get him used to it but she has no brushes at present.

A good site I belong to for everything Shih Tzu grooming to health care  http://www.chattertzu.com/forums/index.php?/
They helped me a lot in the beginning and I have been grooming my own pups for over two years now
She will need a Pin Brush for daily grooming, make sure it's Not got balls on the ends of pins either, they damage hair. She will need a greyhound fine tooth comb also...all can be bought from Amazon or a pet store. A misting bottle to spray a fine mist over the hair as she brushes, never brush a Shih Tzu's hair dry, it causes breakage. Tell her to register at our Shih Tzu site and I can walk her through everything she needs to know...I even have do it yourself video's I've made and posted for others wishing to learn to groom their own.
