I have not had a bitch hip scored for 4 years but remember it was about a £100 all in.
I wondered what the cost on average is now as mine to-day was £170.
Is that about the going rate?

With Marilyn just hips is £75 for xray and £60 for bva fee. A lot of lab people are now doing elbows too and that's £160 for xrays and £108 for bva

Where I got Lab from I don't know, ignore me on that

I'm pretty sure the BVA fee for elbows is same as Hips. http://www.bva.co.uk/Canine-Health-Schemes/Elbow-scheme/ yes it is £60

I paid £170 at my own vet in 2004!!!

I travelled to a practice in Hereford where I last paid £150 for hips, and the same for elbows three years ago

The larger prices I've quoted are for hips and elbows combined. Like you say elbows alone are £60 fpr bva and £85 fpr xrays

Ah Ok. My vet is normally pretty good on prices but I was a bit taken aback. Clearly I am totally out of the loop when it comes to this sort of thing.
You can only hope it is worthwhile when it comes through. I have been lucky up to now with scores but you always get that feeling luck will run out at some point ......
This one is a real madcap! Sleeping peacefully now and we have had a restful day although she was jolly pleased to see me when I turned up to collect her.

I recently paid 127 plus BVA, and friend paid 98 plus BVA!

My vet wants £300 for hip/elbow plus £108 to bva. Best place in scotland to get it done as seems a bit much to me

Ooh that sounds a lot. I have never had elbow's done, (not a breed requirement) although I have heard some say it will eventually be compulsory. Not sure if that is true though.
I am just keeping my fingers x'd scores are OK.

We don't have an issue re elbows in my breed, but have had a couple of my and other peoples puppy owners vets suggest expensive investigations if a puppy went lame, so I have decided to have mine done since the last one, just booked her daughter in for hers too.

This to reassure owners that it is very unlikely and to hold fire on any expensive investigations, rest the pup and take a conservative approach.

up to now in UK we only have had two elbow score and one is mine.

In Scandinavia and USA there have been hundreds and all 0 scores except for less than half a dozen Scandinavian results of 0/1

I was around £280 recently in Scotland for hips and elbows including BVA fee
