I lost my beautiful boy at the weekend and I have a lot of new Meds of his here, does anyone know of any rescues that would take them?
- By cambria Date 24.05.16 21:00 UTC
Unlikely, if unopened the vets maybe willing to take them back

Even if unopened not after 36 hrs of leaving. Shame because it's a few hundred pounds worth.

My vet wouldn't take unopened meds back when my last dog died, such a pity.

Hello,

I've just come onto this thread and will message you privately in the morning if that's ok as I have a friend who takes medication for rescue centres in Cuba, she's desperately in need of any medication, flea treatment etc even if out of date.

Shes a flight attendant with Virgin and Cuba is on her route and Virgin allow her to take meds onboard.

I will be adding a thread re this very subject.

Sorry about your loss.  You are so kind to be thinking about others at this time.

Sorry for your loss, I to have been in that unfortunate position and our local rescue was delighted with the unused meds, mostly related to the heart condition Marley had.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I hope a charity accepts med.  It's ridiculous the amount of 7nused and unopened drugs that are wasted and not just for pets but humans too

So sorry to hear of your loss.

Run free beautiful boy.  xx

I'm obviously very sorry for your loss too but the control of drugs is relevant so I guess you may just have to throw what you have remaining.   Or perhaps do as I've done in the past and keep it until past the due date, in the event you have a use for it with another dog?   I have done this with something like Metacam for eg.   Not that 'self-treating' is necessarily a good idea!!!

The thing is it's about £400 worth, which is such a waste. That's why I don't mind sending them overseas if it helps another dog

Hello Frenzy,

I did send you a private message re sending the drugs overseas :)
