Topic Dog Boards / General / Importing dog question!

Hi,
I am hoping to import a dog from Russia over the next few weeks but we are struggling to find the best way to bring the dog into Dublin. The breeder is keen to fly with the dog as far as she can as the dog can fly with her on the plane from Russia to Brussels or Paris. Does the puppy have to be vet checked again once landed in Brussels or Paris before we continue our journey via Cherbourg or Calais?
The other option is to use a courier once landed in Brussels or Paris to fly him to Dublin or travel by road but I would prefer to do it myself to keep the cost down and to accompany the dog. Any suggestions would be great.

this may be long shot have you thought about contacting horse travel companys as its breeding seson mares stallions are getting shipped all round uk europe
also try companys that move zoo aniamls around uk and europe and see if they can your pup in to uk

No extra checks at Brussels they bring the dog to you to baggage claim and off you go we have den it this way to avoid having to bring the dog to UK as Cargo and the extortionate handling/processing and kennel fees at Heathrow.

They will check the Pet Passport before you get on Ferry/Eurotunnel

Thanks for the help :)
Just wasn't sure that the passport would be ok as the dog is coming from Russia and its not in the EU.

Me and a friend have both imported in from Russia...  I had my puppy driven over and bounced him between friends through Europe which kept the costs down, my friend on the other hand flew the puppy into France where she collected it. With regards to the vet check (I'm assuming you mean signed off fit to travel), you would only need the one as its the airline that needs to see it, also the passport would contain all the relevant info to get through to the UK if collected in France and driven through.

Neither of us had issues getting the pups into the UK, and is relatively straight forward, good luck.
