Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Junior Warrant question
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 06.05.16 17:17 UTC
I've emailed the KC with no response, hoping people on here might have an idea or be able to suggest other email addresses, I tried the Dog Activities one as it seemed closest of the options.

Basically the puppy I bred got BPIB at the weekend at an open show, there was no Puppy class so he was in Junior. There were 7 dogs present including 2 other puppies, and he was 3rd place and BPIB. Can he claim a point? If there had been a Puppy class, there would have been 3 puppies in it and he would have won. I wonder if the first part of line 4 on the claim form applies:

One point for the award of Best Puppy in Breed at an Open Show (effective from 1st January 2011).
Only to be claimed if no qualifying Junior Warrant points were gained by that dog by winning a
Breed Class or Classes at that show

Or whether it does not apply as there wasn't a BP*opposite sex* to beat. I think it's worth a try!

In this case no, points cannot be claimed unless the dog wins a class. A point can only be claimed for BPIB if the puppy awarded that beats the best opposite sex puppy which gains a point from winning its class. So sorry, not on this occasion.

Oh how annoying. I was afraid that might be the case, but as he beat 2 other puppies AND got BP, I thought it might have been worth a try. If only they'd had a proper puppy class!
