FWIW and we didn't breed often, only for our next generation in fact, with all our bitches except one, although obviously still in seasons to the end, only produced a light slightly coloured discharge into the third week, before around day 21 when it was all over, mated or not. With the one exception, she was mated on days 12 and 14 as I recall, and then proceeded to produce a more blood-coloured discharge throughout the final week. I was quite concerned although she was otherwise fit and well, but did start to think she'd never taken. As it happened after an uneventful pregnancy, she produced one of our bigger litters, 9 puppies, which turned out to be one of our best litters - so good that we kept 3, 2 bitches and a male - who were among 7 we returned to the UK with, one becoming a UK Champ. and the other (always over-shadowed by her sister) took her Stud Book quali. Sadly the male, whose bite was always rather tight, had gone by the time they came out of quarantine (this was before Pet Passport) so although edge to edge is okay in Canada, I couldn't show him here. I did let him be used, twice by the same breeder who was aware of the bite situation (which he didn't pass on - I checked) and he is back of a number here in the UK now, including the one I have now, bought in.
Provided your bitch seems healthy (I had in mind pyometra with mine), I'd not worry unduly. I'd avoid any antibiotics too.
