Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / My Girl has spontaneously aborted a pup help please
- By Lindsay Ddbs [gb] Date 30.04.16 22:42 UTC
Hello all , I really need some experienced advice please , my girl was due to have  her scan next week, on Wednesday she passed a mucus like blob larger than a 50p it was brown and mostly jelly .. Vet reckoned this was a puppy that she passed :( I scanned her on the evening roughly day 26 and could see 7 pups and one empty sack ( the expelled puppy sack ) since then she has been passing in her urine tiny bits ( one penny size ) of the same jelly like mucas ... I am worried sick she is loosing the whole litter .. She is on antibiotics for 7 days ... Anyone had experiences with this problem at all ? Thanks in advance X

Hopefully someone with experience of this will be able to give you some advice but I fear that most will be likely to respond tomorrow. I may be wrong but I think I read a thread a while ago where the bitch lost more than one pup over the space of a week and then went on to carry the rest of the litter to term and have live pups.

Try to stay calm and keep your girl as relaxed as possible. It may be that she has just shed the empty sack. I am assuming that you have spoken to your vet and that is why she has been put on antibiotics - or was she one those already? If so - what for?

Perhaps you could have her re-scanned just to see what is gong on as long as it doesn't stress her out.

Will be thinking of you both...

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do about it except maybe keep her on the antibiotics and pray she keeps the rest. I'm afraid it's just nature at work.

I have heard of this happening and the bitch went on to have her litter with no problems, try not to worry and that's all you can do. Let us know what happens
