Hi Guys,
I am new here, we had two German Shepherds up until just over a year ago when they unfortunately passed away within 3 months of each other aged 10 & 12 - obviously we were so very upset, but now we have come to terms with it and didnt jump straight in to get another - we are nearly ready to get another.
I have located one of our dogs on the myKC website and can see that one of his brothers was used to breed with, and went on to father 9 litters.
I can see that he was mated with what probably seems to be one breeder as most of the dogs had one name as part of there kennel club name but I cannot find anything about this name with the help of google.  Is there anything that anyone knows of regarding traceing dog names?

when i was trying to trace mare i went throw breed societys and breeders

Have a look at litter 17284 on Champdogs. There are other mentions on Google

Munroegan  gsd seem to have a  dog from pembruce might be worth speaking to them. Details with some others as carol said is on Google if you Google penbruce + gsd

Can't see that's she'll be bred from looking at health tests, but you can see the stud dog on MYKC was used to sire a lot of Penbruce dogs and then went on to sire a lots of Myskies dogs. Perhaps the owner of this bitch can help you.

Why not go back to the people you bought your previous two GSDs from?   They may of course be retired now, but may also know of people who are breeding on with their original lines.

The breeder of our boy does sometimes breed still and I get on well with them so didn't want to upset them by asking.
We ideally wanted a boy Blue German Shepherd that was in some way related to our boy, but we may have to drop the related part.

If you get on well with your breeder I cant see how she would be upset by you asking for details and explaining that you are looking for another that is related.It is a compliment that you were so happy with your previous dogs. Also she will have contacts in the breed so even if she cant directly help will be able to put you in contact with others. Most breeders are very  happy to help.

I went back to the breeder of my flat coat many years later for exactly that reason. She is now an elderly lady who doesn't breed but was more than happy to help me

Is blue an acceptable colour for GSDs ? If you narrow your search by restricting the dogs you are looking for by a non standard colour, it will obviously make your search much much harder, doesn't health come miles in front of non standard colour.

German Shepherd Dog - KC Accepted Colours for Registration

The fact that you can REGISTER a GSD as Blue does not mean it's an acceptable colour as such. There is not much sense to the colours allowed for registration. In my main breed they list colours that simply do not exist. When I queried this with the KC they said that they decided to allow all colours that were frequently registered. So presumably if people had regularly registered green pups, that would still be allowed.......... However this is taken from the GSD breed standard:

Blues, livers, albinos, whites (i.e. almost pure white dogs with black noses) and near whites highly undesirable.

Thanks, I find it very strange when people want a specific colour for a breed, that isn't"normal"over a healthy dog of a "normal"colour. Having a look at dogs of non"normal"colours, they seem to be bred regardless of health status, a good friend tells me blue is the new "white" in GSDs and that the dilute coloured dogs have yellow eyes, one of the reasons that it a disqualifying colour in Germany, I can understand that a yellow eyed dog wouldn't do well working Germany sheep/cattle, as I know light eyed BCs have problems over there

My friend also told me that Livers are being bred from American imports, maybe Liver will be the new Blue in the near future ??

Liver has been bred in gsd fpr sometime now at least tje last 10 years but as already said non standard.i don't think the op is saying they would over look a healthy standard colour but are looking for a healthy blue . forrunately  as far as I know none of.the non standard  colours he have problems linked to colour .There were maybe unfounded rumours that white gsd had poor tempremants but havnt heard that in a while

Trouble with any breed when people breed for only one part of the dog, then the rest of the dog is of little importance. Have yet to find a breeder of non"normal"colours in GSDs who actually does a full health screening of their dogs. A few do hips, a few less elbows & very very few do any DNA testing.
I must say a lot of these dogs bear little resemblance to decent working German GSD.
Weak heads in whites(well off white in most cases), very yellow eyes giving them a weird expression come to mind as well as lots of long coats with no undercoat, making them look like balls of fluff, not what I think of as a GSD.
Like I said before very light/yellow eyed dogs do have problems working stock from Germany so not a good thing

I know  a number of  breeders who do full health testing and breed for health and temperament amd still occasionally have non standard colours in their litters.amd don't forget testing for haemophilia as well  As mine is one of those but solid black straightjacket amd longcoated although double coated I very much doubt he would fit the bill of the type your are referring to .even though he and his breeding are very healthy dogs  .Unfortunately the gsd is one breed where disagreement  is so rife I doubt what is a correct dog will ever be agreed on  regardless of standards
