Just been reading about the discovery of puppies preserved in the permafrost in North East Russia for over 12,000 years. They are remarkably well preserved and will provide information about the evolution of dogs as domesticated species. Chuckled when I read that one puppy's tum was full of grass and twigs -my Suki could match that !

How fantastic!
At least it was not full of modern day convenient wheat based kibble! Our dogs are always digging around when we are out and often pulling at roots and browsing on various herbage and grasses.

I think they will need heartworm tabs regular (mine does it), in S East at least the grass has slugs.

Yes they do & heavens knows what polution & agricultural wast they pick up which simply did not exist less than 100 years ago, I read on some dog place or other that that eating horse muck is dangerous due to a wormer or some medication horses get!.

Ice Age Puppies :
"Scientists in Russia's far northeast region of Yakutia have discovered the body of an Ice Age puppy dating back more than 12,000 years. It is intact from nose to tail with perfectly preserved internal organs, including most of the brain, and that's never happened before." Dr. Mietje Germonpré from the Paleontological Departement of Natural History Institute in Belgium reflects on the discovery:
