Just wondered what people use for tick prevention? I do not currently use any flea or tick preparations on my dogs but recently found two ticks on my pup and my vet is pushing to give treatments which I'm not keen to do.
Thanks :)

I get mine a Seresto collar from the vet, prescription only. It last up to 8 months. We go to an area on Suffolk that is a very ticky place and I would rather she didn't get bitten by them as there are now two tick bourne diseases one of which is new and deadly to dogs. The collar repels ticks as well as kills them. She's worn Seresto collars for the last two years and has not had any attached ticks. Occasionally found a tiny crawler which show up well on her light coloured coat.

Nothing used here. when we get them and we certainly do I remove and dispose. so far I don't intend to do any different far to worried about the use of chemicals . I might review my thoughts if this disease really becomes a problem.

I use Bravecto in the summer months only. I hate using things which get on people (like spot ons) or which people can touch (like collars) and love giving a tablet.

I use Nexgard monthly as a combined flea/tick treatment. We have paralysis ticks here so wouldn't consider not having year round tick protection for the dogs.

Thanks for all your comments. I'll give it some more consideration.

I have to go with Seresto collars too - I have always used collars (usually Beaphar but Seresto lasts longer, even if more expensive and only via a vet?) I did find, however, that I had to take the Seresto collar off my Basset because he started to get red skin under his chin where the folds of skin are. He didn't have this from the Beaphar collar.

Scalibor collars are available on line and don't need a prescription. They work for ticks.
thanks, i know it can be a pain looking for tick especially if yr a early morning walker or evening walker like myself, tics are more prevalent. As my two are crosses and particularly hairy it's blinking hard to look for fleas let alone tics. I'm a newbie and would love to join this thread as I know it can be a problem in other areas than others. So if anyone has any good tips for me I'd be grateful.
