I'm trying to find out some information, purely at this time to gather information and cost as to whether this is an option or not, more likely not but worth having to hand.
I've got info for when semen arrives this end but what are the requirements that the dog in the US have to have prior to it being sent over? Is it just rabies and how long prior to sample being taken does it have to be given, what paperwork is needed. I cant find what I need from google searching.
Basically what does the owner need to do across the pond and what do they need.
It feels more complicated than it probably is and has anyone done it. I don't and wont be taking my girl over there.

I can't help you re specifics, but you would also have to contact the KC re registering any puppies you might have.   And AI is, or used to be, really only allowed in breeds with a small gene pool - again talk to the KC about this idea.   People obviously do go down this road, but it's not for the faint-hearted (red tape, and cost).

AI is fine if Importing from another country with the KC. Spoken yo repro vet this end to find out cost and what's required here but he said its defra requirements but cant find anything as ita importing dogs only. Yes o understand the dog will need a rabies shot x amount of days before semen is taken, just the paperwork question as cant find a phone number tp ask the finer details from them so I can pass over to the owner to get costa her end. I may well not go this way but would like to get everything together and then consider the costs and risks involved

just had a dig and this link is a DEFRA licence and has a phone no at the end, it mentions EU and Non EU countries .............may be worth a try ???
