> In my naivety it's this I don't understand, surely if judges are not doing so then they need to be withdrawn or made to stand down.
Judgng is subjective so what one judge sees as okay another doesn't. Fact is however, by the time a judge is invited to do Crufts, they are often in their dotage (should have gone to Specsavers) and at the end of a long day judging a lot of dogs, may well lose the plot. I'd bet that GSD judge is cringing - especially if he looks at his BOB judging video that I've watched. To say nothing of what we saw of the dog in the Group - which was shown even if not at the time - it was played afterwards when Clare B, Jessica etc. commented on what happened.
I'd lay odds that judge won't ever be asked to judge again! He has done a breed already on the 'at risk' list, no favours. And what about the VET who should have examined each BOB on the 'at risk' list before letting them to forward to Group judging.
No mentioned of whether the bitch was in season or not - anybody? If she was, and it sure looked like that to me - that would explain her behaviour at least, running round ahead of a male who was clearly showing that he knew her condition. He was barking the whole way round and in the up and down together, clearly trying to get at her. Ghastly. And so traumatic for that bitch. Banana back or not.
"really hope press leaves gsh owner alone its not her fault " For me, IF the bitch was in season, alone, it WAS her fault for sending the dog to Crufts in that condition. If only from a risk of infection viewpoint.
