Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Affixes?
- By debbo198 [eu] Date 10.03.16 18:26 UTC
Hi, just curiosity really. I believe the first affix (prefix) is that of the breeder (?) What I get confused with is the suffixes - some say 'at' xyz & others 'for' xyz - I think there might be a 'to' as well.
Please can someone explain the differences?  THANKS

Yes the first one is the affix(now called Kennel Name) is of the breeder. Ones you see after is the Affix of the person whom bought the puppy.
So if I buy a puppy, I can put my affix on the end of the puppy's name.
To add my affix there are a number of 'bit's I can use....at, for, of, along with many others to help it make a bit of sense...for instance Breeder Affix Doggie Moggie at New Owners Affix(obviously a made up name...lol)
Hope that helps

The only odd one is where a person buys in a pup from another breeder, but bred both the parents, then they can put their affix on the front of the other breeders so the dog could then be Owners affix breeders affix name.

This is pretty rare these days but may have happened more in the past where breeders kept larger kennels with different bloodlines and say a person bot7ught a bitch and came back to use one of the breeders homebred dogs, and the person took a pup as stud fee or bought one of the litter.
