Oh what a surprise.   With Crufts just around the corner!!    And the Daily Wail at that.

Hasn't all this been done to death already?   Fact is, re the Basset at any rate, I'd not want to be seen dead with a hound looking like the photo used in this kind of article.   Nuff said other than although the breed had become exaggerated over recent years, and these exaggerations were being rewarded in the ring for sure, the Breed Standard has been amended recently to hopefully rule out such exaggerations.   Fact is in all the years we have been 'with Basset', only one had a back problem (spondylitis).   None has had a ear length problem and mine had super long leathers, and we have NEVER had an eye condition in any hound we have bred.

Yes, dig up all the rubbish for the gullible to lap up.

Oh and if people KNEW how much of what was originally filmed re Pedigree dogs, ended up on the cutting room floor in order to present the totally biased documentary that was aired, you'd realise exactly what a con the programme really was.

I thought this had died a death.  Same old, same old.

Like MamaBas mentions, my breed club also altered the breed standard.  The Chihuahua standard used to read  the more diminutive the better.

The weight range went up to 4-6lbs which is far more sensible.
