I know I have experienced this before - my bitch had last of 2 matings last Friday.
But  to-day the bleeding is more fluid than it was before and to-day she would be day 23!
She has been very quiet right through the season, no flagging around the girls etc
I didn't have blood testing as never needed to as I had a dog  (now deceased) that was a great guide so now very confused about the whole thing.
If she misses looks like I will have to go to another means of determining next time.
Worse thing now is that I can't go to the dog anyway as they are on holiday.

My bitch has bled to day 33, (her grandmother did the same and was in whelp) and am pretty sure she is in whelp, had her palpated day 26 after first mating, another week should know for certain (when I can get scan appointment).

I will admit that when I went this last time, I did wonder how any get in whelp if you have the book of the bitch in you hand!

My girl is still bleeding 9 ( day 29 now from first spot) but I am curious.
I keep reading that in this situation, people have antibiotics for their bitch that is.
Why is there a need for that. Am I missing something.
I despair of her season ever ending but do not want to miss anything crucial.

they are assuming, or their vet is, that the bitch has an infection.

My vet pronounced the flow was of normal appearance and no unusual smell, and considers the use of antibiotics for just in case poor practise, and the reason for so much drug resistant bacteria.

Both doctors and vets are being advised to reduce the prescribing of AB's unless actually needed.

My bitch stopped bleeding after day 33 and hopefully we shall know if she is obviously in whelp in another week or two, but palpation on day 28 after first mating, suggested she is.

Fingers crossed she stays that way.

Ok - because the bleeding has been prolonged, I have been on loads of sites and seen this a lot.
I have no reason to think she has an infection at the moment but kept coming across this as a matter of course.
Don't want to miss anything.
Thanks I will leave well alone at the moment. Her flow is still quite runny, more like just thicker than running water - still red but not dark red now.

My bitch was mated 13 days ago. She was blood tested by Idexx, came back with a score of 33.5 and mated the following day. she has a dark red/ brownish discharge and my other dogs are sniffing her as they would if she was in season. She is eating well, drinking as usual and no temperature. I am wondering if she could still be bleeding from her season or should we check it out at the vets? She has had a litter previously with no problems
