I have a beautiful staff pup called Sasha, she's coming up to 6mths now but doesn't seem to be filling out she seems very tall all legs and tail, she is very mischeivous and eats well and gets plenty exercise but she just looks too lean for my liking I don't know anyone with Staffs and would be grateful if anyone can tell me if she will start filling out and when she looks a bit like a mini whippet at the minute, cheers!

Hi beth ..most dogs go through a stage where they appear to be all legs (and ears in the case of Malamutes) ..at 6 months old she is still a baby and growing fast , the rest of her will catch up eventually :)

You should be able to feel her ribs through her skin on her side ..not too ribby ..just feel them

my lab is the exact opposite. all belly. she looks like shes swallowed a beach ball all the time, but then she's only 11 weeks old so guess we'll have some upward rather than outward growth pretty soon.

LOL ..yes ..in about 4 weeks time I reckon ;) They seem to go from the cute , round puppy stage to all legs and ears in one quick blink!

tell me about it. we went to puppy classes friday night for the first time and there were 3 four month old labs there. I cant believe that my little podgy is going to be that big in only four weeks it just doesnt seem possible.

at least then she wont be able to get through the stair gate. she's causing havoc at the moment cos she can squeeze through

My youngest staff has never "filled out" to be a stocky type, she is very well balanced and leans towards the terrier side, approx 25lbs? A lady stopped with her 21 month old dog, again leggy and fit, she guessed at my bitch being just over a year old, close.....she is five and a half!!! What are the parents like was going to be my next question, but my own little' un blows that theory out of the water, she is out of Rellim Black Ace!!

Beth
Most Staffys do go through a "leggy" phase at this age .
Dont worry - it wont last

Don't panic, and don't worry if shes healthy happy and eating. You love her does it matter, she will fill out soon. They start to fill out about 7-8 months, and continue till they are 2'ish. From my experience anyhow.

Hi Beth
I use to keep staffs and At 7 mths i really didnt want to take my staff bitch to ringcraft as she looked like a grey hound,
But at 18mths she was filling out and i took her to a breed show and she took best opperstie sex and best bitch in show at downlands 99 so don,t worry.
