Hi everyone,
I am new to this and am in need of some advice...
I bred my large breed  nearly 5 weeks ago and need to know if any of these symptoms sound like she's pregnant
She become very loving
She eating like a horse
She's had white discharge about 3 weeks ago (but only for one day)
Her nipples are enlarged but only four of them have turned a pinky colour
She keeps licking her nipples
And she's sleeping LOADS!
but her belly remains the same size...I think around her ribs has enlarged a little bit.
so does this sound familiar to anyone any advice is greatly appreciated thanks xx

If you want to know if she's pregnant I would get a scan done.

Those are al signs of a possible pregnancy but equally could be of a phantom, (bitches whether pregnant or not go through the same hormone changes after a season, we are just looking out for them when we have a bitch mated), so the only way you can know for sure is scan her or wait and see.

Once again this will only confirm, or rule out, a pregnancy at the time of the scan.

With mine, I'd see a slight thickening of the flanks by around the fourth week.   Some would become more careful with themselves, not join in the general daytime activities with the rest, some just carried on as before, until their increased girth prevented much of that.

If you used a proven stud dog and she accepted him, then you can be 99.9% sure she's in whelp.    It's nowhere near as hit and miss as with humans!     Even if you get a no puppies scan, you'll still be watching come the end of a pregnancy.

Yes agreed mamabas, but if she's not pregnant now it will answer the question. If she remains to being confirmed pregnant after the time of scan is another matter.

And then, I'd bet you'll still be looking when her due time comes     Unless you have a specific need to know right now, why bother (again!!).

I'd be content to see positive signs and by around 7 weeks, if she is (still?) pregnant, you'll see puppies moving around.

If the bitch is found empty, there are shows to enter, and most importantly for me, people on your waiting list to let know there are no pups so they can get onto another breeders list in a timely fashion.

Also there may be holiday booked from work that needs to be cancelled and rearranged for another time.

Lots of reasons a breeder may want a miss confirmed sooner than later, including researching an alternative stud dog.

Also some stud owners have it in their contract to confirm pregnancy for the stud fee to be paid in full

Thanks again everyone and yes I agree mamabas I think I may just wait n see!
