I hope someone can answer a question about my shepherd. He's seven years old about 115lbs and the vet says he looks very healthy and not over weight. The problem is when we go on walks after just a few minutes he will start dragging his back feet.He never seems to be in pain, but tonight we noticed he was trying not to put any waight on his left rear leg.And he is having a hard time getting up but he does not whimper or cry.Could it be hip displaysia or progressive myelopathy and does anyone know if it could be helped with anything other then surgary.Any information would be very helpfull thank you.

Hi guest,
If you do a search for Degenerative Myelopathy, I think you may find some symptoms that may match :(
If it is DM, it can be helped with diet and drugs, but not surgery.
